While in my second quarter I took a Draping and Garment Construction I class. Coming up in a few weeks I will be taking a Draping and Garment Construction II class which delves deeper into creating, designing, and finishing your proposed garment(s).
In this class I completed my first skirt, which was made out of organza (a very stiff like-sheer) fabric. It was a volume skirt, mimicking eastern volume--which takes less fabric and utilizes different design elements like darts, pleats, etc to create volume. It is difficult to see in this photo, however, I added darts and pleats to each part of my skirt.
I finished with pink heart buttons and hand sewed on sheer white flowers within the pleat openings down the side of the skirt.
